Support font font subsetting when embedding OTF fonts?

Hi,

I use Prince to general PDF in a desktop application. I allow the user to select the font they would like to use. For Japanese I'm told that the default font on OS X is Hiragino Maru Gothic Pro. The problem is that the font included with OS X is OTF. When this font is embedded a simple PDF document balloons up to 11MB.

Are there any plans to support font subletting with OTF fonts?

Yes, but it's a big job as it doesn't share anything in common with the existing TrueType subsetting, unfortunately.
