having text-overflow: ellipsis; to truncate a long text would be a killer feature for us.

It won't be in Prince 8.1, but I'll add it to the roadmap for future consideration.

Perhaps. Once 8.1 is out, we will review the roadmap for 8.2.

We have now released Prince 9, which supports the text-overflow property.
