We're using Prince XML to generate the PDF documentation for Apache ServiceMix (great tool - big thanks). I would like to find out if/how we can add a hover/tooltip text to some of the acronyms or class names we have in our technical documentation.

No, there is no mechanism for this at the moment.

Did that change meanwhile, or are there any plans? I'm having similar issues with acronym elements: they are "shown as acronyms" in the PDF (e.g. dotted underline), but no way to reveal the expansion. If there'd be a "hover" display as it is for links, I'd really appreciate that. Not asking for more in this context

It is not possible to create PDF annotations yet, but you could use CSS pseudo-elements to add the acronym definition after its usage, which might be helpful for printed output.
