what if i leave off the ending </tag> tag? This is a question that i was ask in class that i need help with for school. Please help as soon as possible.

If the closing </tag> is omitted, then the file is not well-formed XML, and Prince will not read it. (Nor will other XML tools).
However in HTML it is often possible to omit closing tags, although sometimes this can lead to quite ambiguous markup.
More specifically, this forum is not really for answering homework questions, unless they happen to be about using Prince, but I suppose the occasional XML related question is okay!
